General administrations were presented from that day, with stops at Bally, Serampore and Chandannagore. In 1862, EIR broadened upto the west bank of Yamuna on its approach to Delhi. In 1864, in an offer to interface Calcutta and Delhi, trains began running between the two urban areas with no scaffold on Yamuna by shipping the mentors on water crafts over the waterway at Allahabad. In 1865 the Yamuna Bridge at Allahabad opened. In 1867 EIR branch line stretched out from Allahabad to Jubbalpore.
How did Eastern Railway extended?
After the Government of India assumed control over the administration of EIR in 1925, it was splitted into six divisions — Howrah, Asansol and Dinapore known as the lower divisions and Allahabad, Lucknow and Moradabad known as the upper divisions.Eastern Railway (ER) was framed on fourteenth April, 1952 by reconciliation of the East Indian Railway (EIR) comprising of Sealdah, Howrah, Asansol and Danapur Divisions and the whole Bengal & Nagpur Railway (BNR). The ward of ER reached out from Howrah to Mughalsarai in the North, upto Visakhapatnam in the South and upto Nagpur in the Central territory. The three Upper divisions of E.I.R. were added to Northern Railway.Later, the parts of BNR extending from Howrah to Visakhapatnam in the South, Howrah to Nagpur in the Central territory and upto Katni in the North Central Region were isolated from Eastern Railway and framed as "South Eastern Railway" with impact from first August 1955.
